Graveyard Keeper 2 gameplay guide
An official-source overview of cemetery work, production, town rebuilding, combat, and changes in Graveyard Keeper 2.
Last updated: 2026-09-23

The official material presents Graveyard Keeper 2 as a single-player management game that combines work around a cemetery with gathering, crafting, automation, town rebuilding, and defense. This overview stays with publicly confirmed systems; it does not invent recipes, numbers, or a full progression guide.
Graveyard work
The graveyard remains the center of the setting, but the sequel places its keeper in a wider recovery effort. The official game page frames the work around running the graveyard while restoring the surrounding world. A September story update says the new story begins eight years after the first game, giving returning players a familiar foundation without making unannounced details part of this guide.
Production and automation
Gathering and crafting feed into a larger production loop. According to the story overview, the sequel introduces factory work with conveyor belts. A separate zombie update describes a semi-automated underground factory and zombies that can take part with equipment. Those announcements establish the direction of automation, not every machine, recipe, or optimal layout.
Town reconstruction
Town work is about reclaiming districts and restoring everyday places. The town update mentions repairing homes, shops, and infrastructure, alongside new trade demands. That gives production a reason to reach beyond the cemetery while leaving the exact economics to the released game and its official material.
Combat and defense
Official previews also describe an undead force that can wear armor, wield weapons, and join the keeper in defense. The combat update shows street enemy waves, control points, barricades, towers, and squads. Treat these as the announced ingredients of defense rather than a promise of a fixed mission count or a complete combat manual.
Changes from the first game
The sequel retains a technology-tree foundation while adding talents, factory conveyors, and Milestones for rapid travel to unlocked places, according to the story update. It is intended to welcome new players as well as returning ones. Visually, the art update describes a fixed-perspective 3D world that continues the series' pixel look with dynamic shadows, wind, weather, and fog.
